Matreier Tauernhaus si trova in una posizione di incomparabile bellezza nel Parco Nazionale Hohe Tauern.

L'albergo è situato sull'alto piano del Matreier Tauerntal (1.512 m) ed è aperto tutto l'anno (ad eccezione dei mesi di novembre e maggio).

Si distingue per la piacevole combinazione di varietà e bellezza della località e per l'offerta dell'albergo che, indipendentemente dalle condizione atmosferiche, è ricca di attività interessanti.

The Alpengasthof Matreier Tauernhaus located at 1,512 metres above sea-level is a holiday hotel opened year round except for a few weeks in May and November. It is situated in a unique location directly in the National Park Hohe Tauern among the highest Austrian peaks.


The Tauernhaus is renowned for its combination of the attractive and diverse Matrei Tauerntal landscape in East-Tyrol and the hotel’s offer of all-weather activities.

Grand tradition

The Matrei Tauernhaus is looking back at a moving history within the past millennium, from 1207 until today.

In 1207 it was a farm where cottage cheese was produced. The housekeeper, the “Tauernwirt”, was paid contributions by the archbishop of Salzburg for taking care of transportation path from Matrei to Mittersill, across one of the main ranges of the Alps.

Accommodation

The Matreier Tauernhaus offers 120 beds for your individual comfort. Homely of furnished double rooms, familyapartments offer spaciousness and wonderful views the Venediger Mountains. A convenient starting point for your relaxing stay.

Restaurant

Vacation is a time for enjoying, which includes fine dining. The traditional Austrian cuisine line, refined with the contemporary taste as well as substantial regional “East-Tyrol” titbits strike a chord with our guests.

Our Chef de Cuisine Sebastian Berger and his team offer a wide range of creativly by regional made dishes.

Our breakfast buffet provides a good start for a happy day. To us at the Tauernhaus the quality of products, is especially important.

Spring, summer, autumn

The gentle yet rugged Alpine landscape makes a variety of outdoor activities possible – from walks in the mountains, to mountain climbing, fishing, horseback riding …

In the heart of the Hohe Tauern, the Matrei Tauerntal is an Alpine plateau dotted by the river “Gschlößbach”, surrounded by majestic peaks that ascend to an altitude of 3.674 metres. In the National Park “Hohe Tauern”, which is subjected to stringent protection, the Venediger- and Granatspitzgroup are among Austria’s most valuable natural treasures.

Winter

The Ski area Glockner Resort in Matrei in Osttirol offers downhill trails, excellent snow conditions, skiing and snowboarding schools

The Glockner Resort is among those ski regions of the eastern Alps which offer the best skiing conditions, in particular owing to a network of ski lifts and runs extending up to an altitude of 2,500 metres, and full coverage of artificial snow producing equipment. The skiing season generally starts in December and lasts until April.

Friends of cross-country-skiing may enjoy the 6 km-track, that starts directly from the hotel. More challenging tours are avaible, of course.
